For many years, my wife prepared marinated chicken and/or pork as main dishes for gatherings of family and friends. Each time, guests were awed by the flavor of the meats and wanted to know the recipes which were actually developed in her grandmother's kitchen in Taurage, Lithuania. But the secret recipes were never divulged, not even to her closest friends.
One day in 2012, we were talking about the marinades and how great they tasted, how everyone asked about the recipes, and discussed the idea of perhaps bottling them. Over a thousand recipes were researched and found nothing close to the exceptional flavors her recipes offered. We, of course, didn't want to be just another marinade.
